Science park and laboratory surveys

Our science park and laboratory surveys give owners, agents and contractors accurate data on research estates, without disturbing the science inside.

Lab buildings are more sensitive than most. Vibration, dust and changes in conditions can affect experiments and equipment. So we plan every survey, and any monitoring, around the work going on inside.

Life sciences and R&D space is a growing market. Our track record here is still early, but it’s real and growing, with named projects at Cambridge and Royston.

Science park and laboratory surveys we deliver

We deliver three core surveys for research and lab estates, all in-house:

  • Measured building surveys in Revit – Accurate models of labs, plant rooms and offices for refits and space planning.
  • Topographic surveys – Levels, features and boundaries for new buildings and campus upgrades.
  • PAS 128 utility surveys – Mapping buried services before you dig, so critical supplies aren’t hit.

The scope is much like any technical estate. The difference is how sensitive the work inside is. We plan around occupied, working buildings from the first call.

Environmental Monitoring

Where laboratory science is sensitive to disturbance, monitoring during adjacent works is the natural continuation of the survey.

Why research estates choose Survey Solutions

  • In-house – Survey and monitoring from one team, with one point of contact.
  • Secure – ISO 27001 certified, so your building data is handled with care.
  • Accredited – ISO 9001 and ISO 45001, plus CHAS and Constructionline.
  • Rapid local teams – across the UK.

Science and Technology FAQ’s

Yes. We plan every visit with your estates and lab teams, around experiments, equipment and safety rules. Laser scanning is quick and non-contact, so we spend less time in each space. We can work out of hours where needed.

We monitor vibration and environmental conditions while the works go on. Alerts tell you straight away if levels go above agreed limits, so the work can pause or change. The data also shows the contractor’s works stayed within limits.

Most science park projects need a topographic survey and a PAS 128 utility survey before design. Refits of existing buildings need a measured building survey, often as a Revit model. Where works are close to working labs, vibration monitoring is worth adding.

Yes. We laser scan the building and model it in Revit, including labs, plant rooms and offices. Your design team can use the model for refits, services planning and space management. We agree the level of detail before we start.

Send us the site address, what you need surveyed and the outputs you want, such as Revit, CAD or monitoring data. Tell us about access rules and any sensitive areas, plus your programme dates. We’ll send a clear quote.
