Meet Julian

I joined Survey Solutions in October 2022 having worked in site investigation for several years. Despite relocating the length of the United Kingdom, and having only some surveying experience, I found it easy to integrate into our Glasgow office. I received plenty of assistance from the more established surveyors, who were always willing to share their knowledge and experience. I also had all the equipment and computer software that I needed to get my jobs done effectively.

During my time at the company I have had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of surveying projects, both large and small, most closer to Glasgow, but others further away in the Western Isles, the Lake District and North Wales. I have also had the opportunity to obtain my GVC Drone License, and have worked on a few notable projects, receiving excellent ongoing support.

There has been a lot of positive change in my short time working at the company. This has included a complete overhaul of our survey templates, the standardisation of our work processes and the implementation of an online learning platform. Health and safety are always at the forefront of our minds, and we are actively encouraged to report any incidents and near misses.

Since my time at Survey Solutions I have been promoted to the role of Senior Surveyor. This has given me greater responsibility and I am now overseeing a long term monitoring project in Penrith. I am currently acting as a mentor to a trainee, a role that I find rewarding, as I enjoy passing on my knowledge and experience to others. I have received excellent support with this from my manager and through a well structured company training program.

I look forward to my future at the company, I have several goals that include undertaking complex topographical surveys and gaining more laser scanning experience.
