Meet Jack

Survey manager Jack with CCTV utility equipment

l joined Survey Solutions in 2010 starting as a junior surveyor. Around 18 months later I was promoted to a surveyor and since then have continued to progress my career by gaining more experience. In 2019, I was promoted to the Nottingham office’s Utilities Survey Manager.

l have full responsibility for the quotations, booking and invoicing of each survey as well as managing the team of 15 surveyors and trainees for utility projects across the Midlands and north of the IJK.

Training wise I have undertaken a QCF Level 5 in Utility Mapping and Surveying. Other courses include CSCS, a Health and Safety course, First Aid at work which work alongside the in-house training I received early on.

The first few years flew by as I encountered different scenarios and challenges. More recently having started a family, my Survey Manager role has helped maintain a healthy work life balance.

Going forward, I want to help build the business and identify new avenues that the company currently does not offer.

My advice to anyone getting into surveying is to always work hard as you will get out of the role what you put into it. Every day is different, and the rewards are certainly worth the extra effort and with Survey Solutions there is no restriction on how quickly you can progress. I enjoy the team I work alongside many of whom have been in the business since I first joined. There is also a huge amount of satisfaction seeing the whole process from initial quote through to finished drawing.
