We provide structural surveys both as a specific investigation or as part of a more integrated building survey project. Structural surveys give accurate details of the key elements within buildings and structures which could include the positioning and alignment of columns, level changes and the layout of lifts and stairs.
Structural surveys can help to understand and solve potential issues within the structure of a building and by using a range of equipment and surveying techniques, we can deliver accurate and detailed building data. For example, we have recently completed surveys on a number of hospitals where the presence of RAAC planks have been identified within the flat roof structures. Here, we were able to carry out a complete survey of all RAAC planks and feedback any deficiencies or weaknesses. More information on RAAC planks can be found here.
As well as mapping all the existing features of the structure, we can also look inside the building’s elements within the floors, walls and columns to identify the presence (or lack) of rebar and reinforcement mesh which can identify construction processes.
Where the correct materials are in place, this can help aid clash detection which could cause injury or damage to equipment when drilling bore holes and core samples.
Similarly, our surveyors can visit site during or after construction to carry out as-built surveys to produce drawings which can be compared against the original designs. This may include positioning of any deformations or issues which are then used when arranging remediation works.
