Survey Solutions deployed advanced environmental monitoring at Lowestoft Port—supporting ABP’s £35m offshore energy redevelopment with real-time impact data.
Environmental Monitoring at Lowestoft Port
As part of our ongoing collaboration with Associated British Ports (ABP) at the Port of Lowestoft in Suffolk, we have deployed environmental monitoring technology using advanced systems to track the impact of a major redevelopment project. This Port of Lowestoft Environmental Monitoring initiative is a key element in ensuring the project’s environmental impact is closely managed.
ABP is currently investing £35 million to transform the Port of Lowestoft into a state-of-the-art offshore energy hub. Known as the Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF), this new development will deliver essential infrastructure to support the UK’s growing offshore renewable energy sector. Construction is well underway, with the facility expected to be fully operational by October this year.
Using Advanced Technology to Support Offshore Energy Redevelopment
To ensure that environmental impacts are thoroughly understood and managed, cutting-edge monitoring solutions have been installed across the site. These systems provide real-time data on key environmental indicators, including noise, dust, temperature, and humidity. The technology not only delivers high accuracy but also features a compact, discreet design that is quick to install and highly energy-efficient—offering longer battery life than competing products.
All collected data is available through a single, user-friendly online portal, streamlining the monitoring and reporting process for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
By implementing environmental monitoring at Lowestoft Port using advanced technology, ABP is demonstrating its commitment to responsible development and sustainability. As the UK’s leading and largest ports group, ABP continues to play a crucial role in supporting green infrastructure and enabling the country’s transition to cleaner energy sources.
This collaboration reflects a broader vision where innovation, environmental stewardship, and infrastructure investment go hand in hand to create a more sustainable future for ports and offshore industries.
“ABP is committed to creating a positive environmental impact across all our sustainable ports. Monitoring the environment at Lowestoft is in line with our sustainability goals as outlined in our sustainability strategy, ‘Ready for Tomorrow’. The environmental monitoring sensors were installed swiftly, and their small size ensured they did not disrupt our operations. The ability to monitor all environmental factors with a single sensor and access all reporting data on one dashboard is a major advantage. We have a long-established relationship with Survey Solutions. I would definitely recommend them. The service they provide is excellent, and we’ve always been satisfied with their pricing. It’s a great partnership. They work with us and support us, and we truly feel like we’re in safe hands.”
