Glasgow LNP Topographic Survey

Survey Solutions delivered topographic surveys across 12 Glasgow sites for the Liveable Neighbourhood Project—enabling fast, accurate support for active travel design.
The Glasgow LNP project topographic survey was undertaken as part of work to support Glasgow City Council’s (GCC) Active Travel Strategy.
Engineering consultancy, Mott MacDonald is working to identify a series of active travel interventions to improve accessibility across the city. Our job was to complete topographic surveys on 12 sites including road junctions, carriageways and green spaces. Teams from four of our UK offices combined effort to meet the extremely tight deadlines on this exciting project.
Part of GCC’s Liveable Neighbourhood Project (LNP), these active travel measures will transform areas throughout Glasgow by providing enhanced safe walking and cycling facilities, to support everyday journeys and local town centres. The proposed interventions are aimed at reducing car dependency and fostering community engagement, particularly among residents of underprivileged areas, by facilitating their access to the city’s social and economic opportunities.
Trust Survey Solutions to Deliver on Tight Deadlines
To deliver the land survey data in line with the project deadlines, we co-ordinated seven surveying teams across the 12 sites from our Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham and London teams.
This meant we were able to successfully complete what would have been 12 weeks of work in just five weeks. By delivering survey outputs incrementally as each site was surveyed, Mott MacDonald’s design engineers could commence their design work, ensuring a streamlined workflow throughout the project lifecycle.
Our ability to mobilise resources quickly to meet demand enables us to be extremely flexible and responsive. With standardised processes and methodology across our business, we can provide consistency and accuracy across all surveys and deliverables.
“Survey Solutions’ responsiveness and ability to deliver under tight deadlines was extremely helpful. Neil and his team in the Glasgow office demonstrated exceptional coordination, serving as a single point of liaison across multiple teams and projects. Following the success of our collaboration, we have entrusted Survey Solutions with additional topographical surveys for the Glasgow LNP. Their team even went the extra mile by hosting a Continued Professional Development session for a group of graduate engineers in our Glasgow office, cementing a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.”
