Survey Solutions provided vibration and movement monitoring in Battersea to protect a critical 6kV cable during piling for a major residential development.
Construction of a multi-million-pound development of high-value residential apartments and commercial units requires expert monitoring services! The Battersea Monitoring project saw us ensuring that a 6kV cable, running close to the construction and in between two sets of piling rigs, was protected from any damage during the building work.
Accurate Electricity Cable Monitoring in Battersea
At risk from movement and vibrations, the cable was essential to the electricity supply for thousands of residential and commercial buildings in the area. Dave Mainwaring, our Director at Survey Solutions said: “The potential risk of this cable being struck or damaged is huge and so it is extremely important that our specialist team records and delivers detailed, reliable and timely data.
“We are undertaking continuous vibration monitoring, along with weekly movement monitoring, to understand if the work being carried out on site, including piling, is causing any issues to the underground cable. By precisely measuring the position of our pre-installed monitoring prisms, we can analyse each measurement against the original base reading of every individual monitoring target. This data is then fed back for review by the various parties in the project.”
