Land Survey for Bridgewater Viaduct

Survey Solutions delivered a detailed Bridgwater Viaduct survey, enabling safe and efficient maintenance through reliable, high-accuracy data.
Supporting Bridgwater Viaduct with Accurate Early-Stage Survey Data
A consulting engineering client required a precise land survey to support upcoming maintenance works on the Bridgwater Viaduct and surrounding area. The scope included parapet wall reconstruction, vegetation clearance, brickwork repointing, and resurfacing—each dependent on dependable data to de-risk early planning and establish cost certainty.
Our Manchester team responded at pace, mobilising quickly to meet the project’s initial requirements. The survey captured all topographical features critical to scheme design and identified spring and crown points of each arch. This level of detail enabled the production of accurate bridge elevations and a more robust quantification of brickwork volumes.
Built by Heenan and Froude—also behind Blackpool Tower—the viaduct once carried rail freight and passenger services before closing in 1969. Today, it remains a structurally important asset demanding careful intervention.
By combining rapid deployment with detailed data capture, our team helped the client progress with confidence—ensuring that early decisions on condition, scope and materials were grounded in precise, project-ready outputs.
