Helping Asda Introduce Recycling Schemes

Survey Solutions is helping Asda introduce recycling schemes with fast, accurate surveys at car parks across Scotland and northern England.
Surveying Asda’s Recycling Rollout
We’ve been supporting Asda recycling schemes at sites across Scotland and the north of England as they prepare to introduce Scottish Deposit Return Scheme machines in store car parks.
Our Glasgow team has led the programme, delivering a series of topographical and utilities surveys across a wide geography — from Newcastle and the west coast of Scotland right up to Elgin and Peterhead. The objective: to give Asda’s delivery teams the clear, accurate information they need to progress installation at each location.
Using total stations and laser scanners, our topographical surveys capture all visible ground-level features. For the utilities surveys, we deploy ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic location (EML) methods to precisely identify underground services. Once complete, we provide 2D AutoCAD drawings that combine both data sets, enabling Asda to clearly see both surface layout and subsurface constraints in a single reference plan.
This work is often requested at short notice, but our local presence and agile team structure mean we’ve met every demand. We coordinate closely with each store’s manager to ensure minimal disruption during fieldwork, temporarily cordoning off small sections of the car park, safeguarding our surveyors while keeping customer access open.
Asda’s teams have highlighted our fast turnaround, clear reporting, and practical on-site collaboration. It’s a strong example of how responsive surveying supports retail programmes with clear environmental impact—combining speed, safety and engineering certainty.
