Land survey for maintenance of Bridgewater Viaduct

A consulting engineer client required an accurate and detailed representation of the layout of the area in and around Bridgewater Viaduct in preparation for a detailed set of maintenance works including reconstructing the parapet walls, vegetation removal, brickwork repointing and resurfacing the road.

Our Manchester team delivered the much needed data and were able to attend site quickly. As well as all topographical survey features, the spring and crown points of each arch needed measuring to deliver an elevation of the bridge and help quantify the brickwork. The viaduct was constructed by Heenan and Froude, the engineers for Blackpool Tower, and was used to carry heavy rail traffic in and out of the area, until it finally closed in 1969.
