Precision Drainage Survey for Self-Build Plot in Knutsford

While most of our projects serve commercial clients, we are always eager to support domestic customers as well. Recently, we completed a drainage survey for a customer who needed to locate a sewer accurately on a self-build plot in Knutsford.

The project involved a single dwelling building plot, with approved plans for a 1,205 square foot detached home. As part of the planning process, United Utilities requested a detailed drainage survey to identify the exact position of a significant sewer servicing a nearby housing estate. The information provided by United Utilities only offered a rough idea of the sewer’s location, leaving our client in need of assurance that it wouldn’t interfere with the proposed building footprint.

Upon conducting the survey, we discovered that the sewer’s depth precluded the use of a standard sewer sonde. We opted instead for our minicam crawler system. However, during the initial inspection, it became evident that the sewer was blocked. After United Utilities cleared the blockage, we returned to the site and successfully mapped the sewer’s path using the minicam with pinpoint accuracy.

We were pleased to report that the sewer did not run beneath the proposed building footprint. Detailed CAD and PDF drawings were provided to verify these findings.

“I was extremely impressed with Survey Solutions. Their communication was excellent, and they were happy to answer all my queries. The work was completed promptly, and I wasn’t charged extra for the second visit after the sewer was cleared. I also appreciated how they integrated the sewer’s course into the planning CAD drawings, making it easy for United Utilities to see the distance from the build. I highly recommend them!”
