ABP’s Port of Lowestoft: integrating advanced environmental monitoring technology

As part of our ongoing collaboration with Associated British Ports (ABP) at the Port of Lowestoft in Suffolk, we have installed cutting-edge environmental monitoring technology to evaluate the impact of a redevelopment project.

ABP is currently investing £35m in the development of state-of-the-art infrastructure to support the transformation of the Port of Lowestoft into an “offshore energy hub.” The Lowestoft Eastern Energy Facility (LEEF) is currently under construction and expected to be fully operational by October this year. The newly installed technology will help to monitor the impact of redevelopment activities on all environmental factors including noise, dust, temperature and humidity.

The collected data can be viewed and reported through a single online portal, simplifying the monitoring and reporting process. Additional benefits of this technology include its compact and discreet design, ease of installation and energy-efficient features that extend battery life beyond that of competitor products.

“ABP is committed to creating a positive environmental impact across all our sustainable ports. Monitoring the environment at Lowestoft is in line with our sustainability goals as outlined in our sustainability strategy, ‘Ready for Tomorrow’. The environmental monitoring sensors were installed swiftly, and their small size ensured they did not disrupt our operations. The ability to monitor all environmental factors with a single sensor and access all reporting data on one dashboard is a major advantage. We have a long-established relationship with Survey Solutions. I would definitely recommend them. The service they provide is excellent, and we’ve always been satisfied with their pricing. It’s a great partnership. They work with us and support us, and we truly feel like we’re in safe hands.”
