Ever thought about a career in surveying?

If you are at the stage of considering your career options, here is why you should take a moment to think about Survey Solutions. It’s a career that brings lots of variety and no two days are ever the same. You will spend time out on site, as well as in the office, and the range of projects is extremely diverse.

One day, you might be carrying out a topographical survey
for a new building, the next it could be monitoring at a major heritage centre. Our work is cross-sectoral too, including healthcare, education, retail, leisure and residential housing.

There’s every opportunity to advance your career – in fact most of our senior team have risen through the ranks from early beginnings in the industry. You also get the chance to specialise in specific areas of surveying if you wish and with our geographical reach of nine UK offices, there’s flexibility over location too.

It’s not surprising that we enjoy excellent staff retention rates.

Our annual team survey always highlights what people enjoy most about working with us. In short, the people and teams they work in and the true variety of the role. We are a true believer in the importance of continual training and development and have put in a host of programmes to help support your progression to the career you want to have. From our training programmes, an in-house online training academy through to chartered accreditation through the CICES our development programmes are available to everyone.

Trainee positions

We welcome those looking to make a career in surveying to join us at different stages of academic achievement, with multiple entry points from school-leavers of 18 years of age through to graduate trainees.

Right away you’ll join one of our teams and be on-site quickly, supporting a senior surveyor. On-the-job training means you earn as you learn, and you get the opportunity to progress as fast as you wish. We’ll support you as you work towards becoming a member of our qualified surveying team, with your own portfolio of projects.

That’s not all. As members of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES), we have developed our own Approved Development Scheme which is accredited by the CICES. You will be actively encouraged and supported to complete this training scheme, which will develop your skills and competencies and enable you to achieve a formal accreditation.

I started my career at Survey Solutions in July 2015 as a Trainee in the Ipswich office. Having studied Geography at university, and using survey grade equipment in my final year I realised this was the career I wanted to pursue. The role combined my passion for tech and love of the outdoors perfectly. The balance of field work to office time is what I really love. I have progressed through the business adopting new tech along the way especially for measured building surveys. Last year I achieved my UAV license and have been performing drone surveys as part our in-house drone team ever since.
