What our people have to say…

Take a look at what some of our team have to say about working at Survey Solutions and how they have developed their careers.

Grade B Surveyor

Yeovil

“I joined Survey Solutions as a Graduate Surveyor in October 2018 and over the last two years have progressed to my current role as a Grade B Surveyor. I work on a variety of land and measured building projects across the South West of the UK from our Yeovil office.

“There is no such thing as a normal working week. Every week project wise is different, but I usually spend half my time on site and the other half processing all the data to a finished drawing. I do this while occasionally training new members of the team.

“I went to a Technical University in my home country of Germany studying Surveying/Geospatial Engineering. While being employed at Survey Solutions I learnt a lot about the practical side of surveying from my colleagues at the Yeovil office.

“My career at Survey Solutions has been progressing well and quick with two promotions since starting to work here. Of course, I hope that I will be able to advance with the company in the future.

“If I were giving advice to someone joining the company it would be to show a willingness to learn and dedication to the job right from the beginning. Also, never be afraid to ask questions or feel like it would be bothering your seniors.  I am always happy to help you with your work, after all that is the best way to learn new things.

“I think anyone with the right mindset would be able to progress quickly to become a member of the surveying team even with no previous experience. The thing I enjoy the most are my colleagues. The Yeovil team is a small office compared to some of the other regions. We spend a lot of time together so it is crucial that we get along well. And, with the right person even going to site early in the morning can be enjoyable!!

“Since a lot of my work is based outside it will come as no surprise that a lot of my experiences are based on the weather. On wonderful sunny days I am rewarded with the most stunning survey sites. This can be a scenic instrument setup at a beach, scanning a beautiful listed building or simply a green field where you can see the countryside for miles.

“Besides wanting to progress further within the company I also want to join the CICES soon. Continuously learning new skills and developing the ones I already have is something that I am working on.”
