“When I joined Survey Solutions in April 2024, I had no experience in this field of work. I had done my research of what surveying was but that was all I knew. I started as a Trainee Land Surveyor in the Ipswich office, and I enjoyed every minute of what I was learning.
In the July I decided to move over to the Utilities team, for a new challenge and I have stayed on this team ever since. After 3 months on utilities, I am now starting to go out on my own jobs, surveying and drawing them up.
Every day is a different day, with different challenges. There is no such thing as too many questions when you are part of Survey Solutions, everybody wants to help you progress. When I started, I was nervous to do a job I had no experience in, but that all stopped when everyone was so helpful and eager to teach.
Utility surveying is an accomplishment which involves finding a variety of services which include electric cables, gas and water pipes but also mapping out drainage channels, from building sites to hospitals to someone’s house.
The whole team here at Ipswich is quite possibly the best team I have ever worked with. Working with different people, assisting on both utility and topographical.
If you consider working at Survey Solutions, in my opinion wouldn’t be a mistake, for me this was the best career move I have made. The progression, the acknowledgment, and the life-long friends I have made, has made it very easy for me to be able to be myself and move through the company.”
