BRAVE SURVEYORS

Whilst completing a CCTV drainage survey at a site in Barking, East London, two of our surveyors, Dan Birkinshaw and Paul Ireson witnessed a crime taking place. A man snatched a mobile telephone from a lady whilst she was walking along a pavement near where they were working and ran off. The two surveyors immediately decided to intervene and gave chase shouting at him but when he eventually stopped he turned and threatened the pair with a knife. After some ‘careful’ discussions they managed to convince him to leave the phone before he ran away. The phone was returned to a very surprised woman who thanked the lads for their quick actions and bravery. Dan (pictured), who is a father of five and a grandfather said “It was nothing…we were just glad to be able to help.”

Well done to Paul and Dan – it must be in the blood of surveyors! Read about an OS surveyor held at knifepoint by a madman with a machete, shot at, shelled, stalked by a panther, the SAS and Russian Spies in The Ramblings of a Twenty Five Inch Man E J Gill
